INSTALLATION FOR CLIMATE CHANGE (2017)

These are several pieces part of a multi-disciplinary installation aiming to showcase the effects of climate change in unusual ways.

Firstly, we created a book out of a stop montion micro film of a series of photographs of a goldfish. We photographed the goldfish moving, printed the images and then painted them with acid to reflect the effects of pollution on sea-life.

We then built a flip book out of this and hung it on a fishing string as a part of the installation.

As a second piece, we photographed several continuous frames of a factory and the smoke coming from it on infrared, this way the smoke would look black and dangerous, what it really is.

We projected this onto a plinth and on top of it we positioned an old school TV (alluring at the 50’s, the age of blooming consumerism and disregard for the environment, aspect we referenced through the styling of the installation and short films) Playing a video of a curious experiment called Schlieren Effect, a visual process that lets you capture, as you photograph or film the different densities of the air. This way we could portray the invisible pollution that we inhale daily.

We accompanied these experiments with the screening of two micro-short films that presented a dystopian reality, in which climate change is normalised.

Here is the entire installation together.
